This is one of the worse solo motorcycles to ride in high cross winds, why do you think the FIM banned dustbin fairings in GP racing :?:

Because they were really really really fast ?
And hard to see where you were going....

Full fairings on heaps of bikes these days make a nonsense of this comment.
Although some bikes are less stable than others - some pleece farces have banned some makes of bikes from high speeds...

Rohan, None of the bikes currently racing in Australian historics have dustbin fairings, only the dolphin type. At Phillip Island you can come barrelling around turn one towards Southern Loop, and if the wind off Bass Straight gets under your fairing it can bring you off the bike. However I wouldn't ride a naked bike there . The other hazard is getting face full of seagull. Have a look at the MotoGP clips on Youtube and you will see what I mean.

bike looks beatiful.

I hope you have sealed that tank against ethanol.

charles
Hi Charles,,
we dont need it in Italy because we use the green gasoline, without ethanol.
The pronlem is that the green gasoline dont fire easy, neither if you use a match!!!
In fact i was thinking to ask to this blog if was better to increase the degree fire point from Pazon 31 to more?
Do you think is a gamble?
Ciao
Piero

Nor does a Vincent D Type.....

Although what this has to do with the price of fish we just don't know.

You appear to have only naked bikes or you would not be making these comments
This has been known about since discovered by Bernoulli, and is known as the Bernoulli effect
In the bike world, even back in 1981 a road test on BMW's Futuro fully faired concept bike showed why this was still dangerous on a day with high cross winds.

I've ridden a fully faired BM /RT (ex-police) through a near hurricane in Wales.
While you have to watch for sidewinds a bit (more), I've been blown around by sidewinds on naked bikes too.
Can recall seeing the residue of a Ducati being blown into traffic somewhere, naked Duc.

Only got my ankles damp on the BM too, someone had done their homework on that thing.
May be a different story if it had more power though....
Some pleeces banned their ST1100's from speed pursuits.

So tell us your experiences ?
And the GP events that caused it to be banned ???

As to your links - the 1st line of the 1st comment of the 1st article says it all....
"the abject baloney spouted off on the (above) subject of motorcycle aerodynamics "

The Guzzi V8 1957 (500cc) could lap MIRA at a consistent 185mph with its dustbin fairing, no-one else could compete - so they banned it ???
Guzzi had their own wind tunnel....

Here's how I have fixed the master cylinder of the rear disc brake.
Works really well and is perfectly hidden in the left side cover.
To change the battery, simply loosen the two fixing nuts of the pump and turn it counter-clockwise.
Ciao.
Piero
