I’m bored

Well I had no idea what the sunbeam s7 deluxe was. So I looked it up. Sorry to say, I’ll have to pass lol.
If you are that bored it might be time for the greatest no other bike or design like it 1949 to 1955 Sunbeam S7 Deluxe.

Mdt-son,volume 2 has a section on the Condor.
Amazon product ASIN 0955527813Both volumes are excellent books and worth reading, listed as available at Waterstones

Db, thanks for the referral! Ouch ... I will be starving for a month to afford this book.

There's a bloke I know just down the road who built a road going Manx last year. Patrick Walker engine, T45 frame.
Everything brand new. About £25,000 all in. Loud though! I always know when he's off out.

Cab, the more I look at your mates Manx the better it gets! Stunning build. Any chance of some more pics?

I've only a few poor camera photos.
The frame was made by Richard Adams, Warwickshire and I think with an original frame jig.
As nice as it is I think it looks sterile, with too many square edges on the cycle parts. I wouldn't swap it for my Dommi natrix. (last image), or my Commando come to think of it.
If I was to do another project it would be a twin, possibly a Lowboy Domiracer replica.

would have thought the paperwork a nightmare for a current scratch build . Saw one at a classic bike show on the NOC stand .. an original somehow complete with registration.. . The issue i have is stalling or cutting out in traffic.. who wants to doa riun and bump in heavy fast moving traffic?

He does have a kickstart fitted and it does work...sometimes.

I say ‘Pah!!..... to the practicalities’ of such a machine, or else nobody would ever own/build one:)! Old school (very cool), you would just need to plan routes and envionments as best as possible to avoid built up areas where necessary - it’s an open road machine of course! Not a bike to own in New York City, but I could ride this around the hinterland all day where I live, with a feckin‘ big smile radiating from my open face helmet (if I owned one)!

Awesome machine Cab, congrats to you mate!

I notice Scott has gone quiet.

I think those pics of Cab’s mates road going Manx have pushed him over the edge !!

A proper Manx wants to REV. Anyone who thinks they’re gonna enjoy pootling around the back lanes enjoying the scenery is gonna be sorely disappointed I think.

I see them as more akin to a vintage 4 stroke version of a Yam LC.

I think one would be enormous, outrageous fun !

I’m here now lol.

I have my heart set on one, especially the Molnar. But I also have my heart set on a project.
One of my favorite bikes of all time are the Manx and the G50, but I also love the Ducati singles. I need to decide which route I want to go.
Perhaps I should move to the UK where this would be much easier lol.

It's all well and good hankering after these bikes, but do bear in mind they were not built for joe public to do high mileage on the road, they will require twice as much maintenance to keep them in fine fettle, don't ask me how I know.

I’m not interested in a high mile road going bike. I’m more interested in a classic race / race inspired bike. I’m fine with the upkeep and maintenance. That’s what I do for a living lol.

No one is talking of a Manx Interstate Tourer Bernhard. Mainly on account of the fact it would be stupid.

And I would dispute a new Manx would be heavy on maintenance anyway, especially if it’s got electronic ign, belt primary, Mikuni carb, is slightly de tuned and is NOT running on R. They are SO well made and capable of such extreme abuse.

I know guys who race them who hardly bloody touch them !

The new Works Norton engine , used on the road, will be pretty low maintenance for quite a time ( based on a conversation with the maker, who is not a ‘salesman’ type) An electric decompressor is an option, and I would fit a kickstarter and standard box( also advised by maker) for road use.

and it is run on very modern synthetic oil.
