Hello, after needing to change to metal tank on my 70 commando, I was dry fitting an older steel tank and realized it was slightly larger than the original 1970 glass tank. This is impactful as my right side steering stop tab appears to have been ground down too far from the factory thus when turned to the right, the fork tubes hit the steel tank. This didn't occur with the glass tank as it's slightly thinner at the furthest forward points thus I never realized the difference between max turn of left vs right. Now that I need to use a steel tank, I must pull the tank as far back as possible as to not hit the fork tubes when turned but this will also require that I relocate my seat brackets on my corbin seat to pull it back an inch or so otherwise the seat and tank are way too tight. The frame is powder-coated so I can't build the steering stop tab back up with weld. I prefer not to have to pull the tank and seat back from their normal positions but it seems like the path of least resistance, unless I can utilize some other form of a steering stop to one side. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
