Some things are mutually exclusive, but the same things can be mutually supportive. A genuine interest in anything can keep you alive. Many people live their lives to earn money. Howeverv there is no real value in money. I always try to have a project to keep me mentally active. I have a friend who is about 85. He does not do that and has some very silly issues. I think he is afraid of death. When you are elderly, you usually tend to look back instead of forward. Finding something you want to achieve requires effort. I spnd a lot of time educating three young kids. Ieach them to enjoy the good things in life. Thsy sre my legacy.

I'm 66 and just had a quad bypass and heart valve replacement 4 weeks ago. It breaks my heart to miss another season of riding but i am doing everything to get back in the saddle this year. Hardly rode last year and only twice this year before my world came crashing down.
I have a positive outlook and am pushing forward. Wish me luck

Good luck for a full recovery and swift return to the saddle.

My brace of Springer Spaniels and their intense energy used to keep me young, after they went I got a brace of Labradors and whilst they are beautiful creatures to have they are so much more relaxed and genteel.
Gotta say the genteel has its advantages - not yearning to get outdoors with you for at least three hours a day irrespective of weather or how crappy you may be feeling ... Lol !
Mine are currently 13 yrs so will get another Springer next as I seem to have aged somewhat these last 13 yrs .... Springers make a great eternal youth serum 😍 or is it kill or cure
Having said that a terrier would make a decent middle ground.
They say that Jack Russels don't have walks - they have travel restrictions.
Tell me about it!

I'm kind of hoping this thread will be locked soon or else I'm going to have to update my status from the largest group to the second largest group.

I feel I may not be the only one in this situation. 😭😭😭😭😭

Early welcome to the Septuagenarians!

In regard to dogs, not so much.

This anecdote in no way reflects my feelings toward children or dogs, but I am a cat person.

I love dogs but we have two black and grey tabbies. They can look after themselves when we are away for a day or two as we have plenty of river rats, mice and birds around here. One [ the female ] is a house cat and the other [ male ] just suits himself whether he wants to be around us or not. They both do help with the gardening though, and the male does come walking with us down to the wharf on occasions.

As both my Nortons are in good running condition, I don't have to work on them.
36 or so years ago, I bought a 1923 Dodge. Two years ago I finally started work on the restoration. It is practically finished now and i am waiting on VCC to help get it registered here.
I cant add photos but There are a couple of guys on this forum who might be able to. Its fun to drive up and down ours and our neighbour's driveways. Cant wait to get it on the road.
