I was chatting to Richard Browne at Kempton today, and he was relating how the Works dept. offered him the chance to try their tuned A65, which he ran in some Transatlantic races and beat some early triples, as his was lighter and went very well.

Blasphemy

I remember Tony Prices one, it beat triples easily.

There was also one in Ireland raced by Johnny Greene in a Bandit frame , I saw it leave a 1000cc Rob North for dead on a 1 mile long straight through the Phoenix park

Still blasphemy!

The problem with hot A65s was always keeping them together from what I understand

Working through my first beezer I've frequently caught myself wondering "why the f*** did they design it like this..."

The a65 was to replace the A10 and basically that's what you get inside an egg shaped unit engine
The cylinder head is an excellent design but carrying on with that timing side main bush was not the best idea imo
