I am finally getting to the stage of reassembling the rear end of my '74 850. Does the horn mounting bracket go on the forward or aft side of the fender bracket ? Does the horn have the wire terminals pointed forward? Should the horn bell be pointed to the left side? Can someone confirm this so I don't have to disassemble it after I get the fender on?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

The horn mounting bracket should fit to the underside of the battery tray, and be secured by two nuts to the two bolts that also hold the fender/mudguard at the front (low down).

There is a "fender bracket" with three holes but this sits higher up, one hole with a bolt to the fender, the two other holes for bolts that fix it to the back of the rear frame plate just below the main frame tube.

There is a drawing in the factory manual that shows the horn position as having the terminals facing forward, both on the left side, and the open horn bell or trumpet facing to the right.

The horn works a lot better if it is operated by a relay.

The factory horn sounds like a bee under a bucket. That's one item I would change to a regular local market car horn.

Anybody ever come up with a really good location and trick(read good looking) bracket to hold a good horn?
