Hi everyone, I'm relatively bew to the forum, this is my first post. Been into motorcycles my whole life, somehow settled into British bikes around ten years ago with an OIF Triumph, then a Triumph chopper, then a Norton Atlas, now monkeying around with Commandos. Anyway, look forward to making more posts and such, and hopefully not boring everyone to death with picture heavy threads. But I likely will anyway. Thanks!

If that is your bike in your Avatar picture, you'll probably have a lot to offer us. Welcome.

Ha ha, yes, that is my Atlas. It has some "customization" that took a few years to finish, but is my everyday ride now. Actually just got back from the Watkins Glen Vintage GP Festival, where i (well, the bike anyway, I just happend to be the rider) was invited to lead out the parade laps of the "Old Course". Super fun.

Would you say there is any difference in performance with peashooters than with the stock Atlas exhausts,
if you happen to have taken note of such things ?

Any chance of a bigger pic ?
This forum thrives on such technical stuff....
Threads don't have to be 'picture heavy', one good pic is always better than a dozen indifferent ones !

Welcome, Eldo:

I've been around the forum a while and was heavy into motorcycles as basic transport in my younger days. A 1958 Vespa 150 was my first, since Mom embargoed motorcycles. An Ariel Leader 250 followed, then a BSA A7 (500cc). In '63 I switched to cars, initially a 1955 Austin A40. When that old barge threw a rod and broke the crank, I switched to a Heinkel bubble car. Married in 1964, graduated engineering college in 1965, worked for a machine tools manufacturer, then I joined Norton Villiers in late '66.

I got lots of test riding on the Commando prototypes, then on the AJS Stormer after the Commando went into production. In 1968, I decided to follow a large number of my former British Aircraft Corp fellow engineers to go work for Boeing. I took one look at the 5'4" little old ladies driving their Olds 98's at 45 mph on the freeway and decided riding motorcycles on the opposite side of the road was too dangerous and haven't owned a motorcycle since. Now at 75, I don't miss it.
