what did u wanna build make it into? u havnt got much at all there to work with, not sure what the other guys willadvise but id try to get something a little more complete and original to start with, norton parts are dear to buy sepertately so its always cheaper starting with more of a complete package, although in saying that anything can be fixed or rebuilt, good luck my friend!

I am going to build it back into a chopper I have most all parts for the bike exept for carbs and primary drive. I have the ability to fabricate pretty much all of the missing frame parts, cables etc... most what i would like to know is motor size and aprox year and if anyone can Id the what model the frame started out as...

any help would be great

thanks

Besides the possibility that it could be an N15 Norton or G15 Matchless, it could also be a P11 Norton or even an AJS (although less likely). The serial number on the engine (upper left corner of the crankcases) will sort that out with the first few alphanumeric characters.

Either way, to my eye, the frame doesn't look like it's been raked; which means it can always be returned to original form / stance.

There have been a rash of these lately...is somebody having us on? This trend is making me pretty proud of my basket case project!

A brave soul with deep pockets :lol Though I dislike choppers immensely, I will wish you Good luck.

For a standard bike You can buy a frame or just the front section fairly cheaply on E-bay, however some of the other G15 parts that are missing like the toolbox, tank, complete primary side etc. are a bit rare and expensive. Even if you plan to build it as a custom bike/chopper with non standard parts, looking at the rust on the visible part of the crankshaft and gear shafts I would think that you'd be best advised to strip this for parts, sell them and use the money to buy a more complete project.

I agree - please, put the poor old thing out of its misery.

hi if you need parts to make it stock i have 4 new tool boxes a few primarys fule tanks side covers and jusy about evey thing u would need later iron john www.ironjohns.com

Yup it sure looks like one of the 15s, dirt version i'd say because of the shifter. My CSR had the shifter backwards.
The parts needed will add up. No idea what has been done to that frame but it still has the neck sidecar lug.

Was that part of the neck lug? It has been many years and frames since I had mine.

everytime I see one of these I ask myself "what were they thinking?"... I just don't get it.
This bike started life out as a sweet little sprinter, why was it punished so?
If anybody out there has a moment, and knows what the chopper "philosophy" may be, please explain.
thanks,
Don

Definitely not a P11. Frame is very different. P11 has two rear down tubes, no sidecar lug, two cross tubes under the transmission, and only one sleeve through the bottom rail on each side for forward engine plate lower mount.

also, the side of the oil tank on a P11 is triangular-looking, not kidney-shaped
