Help me out guys... What's it worth. 75 mk3

Hi Jeff,

The bike has been upgraded already with the safety and comfort features you would want to add on a project bike. And the PO will deliver? You'll be disappointed if you pass on this one. I paid $4600 three years ago for a Mk3 project bike that wouldn't roll, and then had to ship it across the US; I've put more than $6k into it to get it to roughly the state of this bike (its a hobby, not a business).

WHEN you decide to restore the electric start (I don't know your age, but many of us on this forum are "mature" riders), the plug-and-play Dave Comeau starter motor is lighter, shorter, more attractive, and way more reliable than its OEM counterpart, and available from many sources for $350 or so. Replacing the sprag and some of its adjacent mechanical bits could run another $500, so you have a clean future path to a leg-saving upgrade that will extend your riding enjoyment by several years. Fred Eaton has an excellent e-start article on his Old Britts website.

What are you waiting for, lad?

Nah sonny. Check how long I've been on this forum. Like I said I love my Commando. Just won't pay collector prices for another one.

Ok dad... :D

Those prices are real it seems unfortunately. It's the classic bike dealers that raise the prices. Here in the UK they are all at it and most offer no warranties and service facilities. Having said all that I paid £1000 for my first MINT Commando in 1982. Put that into a compound interest calculator and it's the same price today. They certainly weren't collectable in 1982, my mates thought I was crackers getting rid of my Suzuki GS750!

Actually, I would not have any interest in a rice rocket (how's that for a dad's old term). I was thinking more like used Ducati monster as well as a number of used BMW models not to mention Buells that are really inexpensive. Comparing these, assuming all you want is a motorcycle to ride, I wouldn't pay as much or more for another Norton. Then again I already have a Commando. :)

little bird told me Congrats may be in order?

Yes sir!!!! I will be a Norton Owner very soon. The Seller will be delivering the bike to me on the 24th of jan. this helps out a lot as we all know how expensive it is to ship, and I will have it in time to ride on my 40th later this month.
Approciate everyone intel, After speaking at length with the tech that knows this bike and a Brit bike expert here in Atlanta
I ran outta reasons not to do it. Very excited about finally being a Norton owner. Many picks to follow when I get my hands on her.
Ride safe

Alright that's excellent! Congratulations. Pity you have to wait so long. Hope to fire up mine tomorrow, if all goes well, after owning it since January last year!

Congrats on the purchase, after this cold snap we're having we've got to compare notes, then get your bike sorted and take a ride through the North Georgia mountains. Dahlonega, Blairsville, Helen...some fine roads there.

JD,
I am in for that for sure. Always love the North Georgia roads. I hit them every other week on my Vision, will be a whole new state of euphoria when I get to do it on my Norton. Will be in touch with you for sure
thanks

Those GABMA folks put on a great rally every year! Do yourself a favor and hook up with them.

I will for sure. Thanks Speirmoor, I would have run across this bike without your Advrider tip
