062700 same as 063458 - 32mm heat insulating gasket for the carb manifolds. My old original ones are .105" thick. The brand new ones I just got from OB are just .062" -- just a hair over half the thickness. Is this what we are getting these days from Andover Norton? Don't like change... thinking of sanding and reusing the old ones.

It's like putting in a 50 Ohm resistor where it is supposed to be 100 Ohms...

hmm I'm still working on old stock that like over 1/16" thick hard cardboard.
You know what's needed so in mean time might put both on or make your own as i have, usually out of some tough rubbery stuff that helps the vibes a bit too.

Your lucky you even have insulators....lots of guys don't even use them. Stick with what you have. Your bike doesn't know the difference.

The thickness difference may be the result of using a different substance for the insulation material. The heat transfer properties may be much better than the old style material. Remember companies have had forty years of change in materials composition since the originals were manufactured. Something to check out before you get too riled up.

Flo - what year is your bike?

I bought mine new - Jan '72 combat - and never changed them before.

Will be inspecting at the Gathering of the Nortons April 15 in Washingtons Crossing, PA.

Phenolic is nothing new!

Sorry - Grumpy old guy I guess. 40th anniversary and birthday for my Norton.
