Just dropped my Sport off at the factory to have the head gasket replaced, after 1400 miles.According to the Service department Norton are looking into replacing the cylinder base gasket which seems to be the problem ?

Holy crap!
At least it will get replaced under warrantee.
How bad was the leak?
Which side did it occur on, and how did you notice the leak?

It has blown on the left hand side, underneath the spark plug area.It started running rough and no tickover at first the dropped power.I have spoken to Nick today in the service department and it does seem that the cylinder base gasket is looking like the problem.Apparently the cylinder head needs to be re-torqued at first service ?

Story,

I don't remember seeing "re-torque head" in the owner's manual service items for first service.
I'll have to check the manual again.
This is something all owners should definitely be aware of.

Norton does intend to do the required work for you under warrantee, correct?

Thanks for the update.

Regards

Apparently, the base gasket relaxes after a while,it is too thick or the wrong material. That is why the service department thought the cylinder head had not been re torqued at first service.I knew it had not been done as I waited/watched it being done.
I have to await a full inspection and get a claim passed by the warranty department,I will let you know.
