Has Anyone Used These Hardness Test Files?

Instead of spending a hundred bucks for a set and filing away at your cam, why not ship it to soneone like @comnoz who can test it properly for you?

Don’t forget, usually a camshaft isn’t uniformly hardened, so you’d have to file the lobe, which is not necessarily a great idea.

Just my opinion.
 
Don’t want a file anywhere near my lobes. Anywhere else is meaningless.
 
The only OEM Norton cams I have seen that tested soft were the MK3 cams.

I have never seen a soft OEM case hardened cam.

I have seen a few aftermarket cams that were softer than the MK3 cams and were worthless.

I wouldn't try to test a cam with a file -but the file sets do have there applications.
