I ditched the HF wheel clamp on my lift and replaced it with this:

Works very well. I can generally hold the bike steady enough with one hand and clamp down the wheel with the other hand

Much easier to get the Harbor Frieght one you don't need to clamp. Just roll the bike up and it locks. No hands.

And the front section of this chock is removable, which allows you to remove the front wheel (of course the bike must be on it's centerstand or supported by a jack and the front end strapped down to the lift).

I have this same setup and it works well.

I put a sheet of 3/4" plywood on another Harbor Freight lift, and now it's my mower/ATV lift. The Grasshopper mower is low slung so I needed to build a ramp for it. Had to leave a cut-out for the foot pump, but have since found a 3/4 inch ratchet extension that allows the pump lever to extend out from under the plywood. I was just sliding a flat piece of metal over the cutout to drive on.

I have the same HF lift. I added the same black HF adjustable wheel chock as seem above, plus replaced the small iron castering wheels with slightly larger (4 inch) ones from Tractor Supply, $9.95 each and 4 inch TS wheels in the back. Moves very smoothly now.

I don't suppose you might have the part numbers for the casters handy do you? I'm picking up a lift tomorrow

8) Another advantage for a flat top lift. Back saver when working on yard implements. Lots of room to lay tools & etc. on. I shop once in awhile at Harbor Fright and saw the lift, not to shabby of an item to have for the price. Don't forget that 20% off coupon. :)

When the table lift is too much trouble this high position lift comes in handy.

That looks like a solid lift with that wide stance. Here's the link:http://www.harborfreight.com/high-position-motorcycle-lift-99887.html

I bought this one which is the same as HF, OCT, Canadian Tire and several other re-brands. I thought it would be handy for when my platform lift was tied up. It's nice that everything stays beneath the bike but the lift capacity was only 4.5" to 14.5". Enough to sneak wheels out from below a fender etc but that was it. Then I got to thinking, it has a lift capcity of 1500 lbs and a Norton is only 400.
I bought 12' of 1/8 wall 1.5" square tubing and replaced the long frame rails with 8" longer ones. Then I replaced the 1.25" thin wall 14.5" long upright posts with the same 1/8 wall 1.5" square tubing that was also 8" longer. The bonus was the old thin wall posts slide tightly inside my new longer posts so I was able to make them telescopic adding another 8". It is now a 29.5" lift and works like a charm. The only disadvantage is it has gained an 1" in the minimum height but it still slides right under the bike easily.
