Aloha from Kaua'i, y'all.
Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Coming from chilly Idaho where the Norton is in mothballs, to 69' in the evening and 82' in the afternoon is hard on a body, because there's nothing but scooters to ride (I refuse). We made up for it by spending most of our time in the bathwater surf. Actually, I'm glad the Norton's not here; there's not one piece of iron around here that's not rusting into oblivion.
Temps in my home town are slated to be breaking into the sixty's by the time we return, so maybe I can slide right into early Spring riding. That should help soften the blow.

Be sure to give your honey an extra squeeze today!

Hehe. Even the volcanic rock turns to rust making the red soil seen there. Still wett suit weather above the water state sides so don't come back right away. See if ya can track down a Kunha massage, wrap ya up in a thick carpet then beat on it til delious but ya don't want em to stop.

Don't dismiss the scooter idea too quick. They are a lot of fun to ride and you may be surprised to find you like them. I have 2 vintage Vespa scooters and a modern Vespa. Nice balance to my vintage Norton's and Triumph. Plus it is a great way to see the island.

Happy Valentines Day!

This thread reminded me of a funny story that isn't related to valentines day but to riding scooters in Hawaii. Back in the 90's when I was still in the Navy, our ship made a liberty stop in pearl harbor. As part of our liberty policy, the pre-port call brief included the usual "off limits" activities, but added NO Scooter rental/riding and NO Skydiving while ashore. Well there was a young E-2 airman in our squadron who disregarded the no scooter part of the policy and rode around Wai-kiki and the island all day wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops. (let me add that he worked with me on the night shift and hadn't seen the light of day for the last 6 months). Well, needless to say he was spotted out in town by many of the commands senior enlisted on his little scooter adventure on our first day of liberty. The second day in port, my shop had duty and after muster in the hanger bay we reported back at the shop to get ready for our watch. Our chief came in after a bit and looking at no one else but this fella, asked if anyone had rented a scooter. We all piped up and answered ....No Chief. So he said Reeeeally, looking around at the rest of us. He then instructed this kid to drop his coveralls and sit in that chair. We all started snickerin' when he did this, and when the chief had him hold his arms straight out in front of him, we busted out laughing!! He was beet red with sun burn on the tops of his arms, legs, feet, hands and face :D . He spent the next 3 days hand wiping all our jets ! I got lucky though......no one saw us up at the North Shore airfield 8) and I got to free fall from 12,500 ft. down to 4000 ft that day on a tandem jump,........man, it sure was beautiful. :)
