And the NRA has fought tooth and nail against any and all regulation of firearm ownership. As far as HIPA laws are concerned, those need to be changed too. A mentally unstable person with a history of violent behavior was able to obtain a top government security clearance and he murdered several co-workers inside a supposedly "secure" facility. Had there been mental screenings and comprehensive background checks, that guy would never have been able to lay his hands on a gun, much less shoot up a government facility. An Army sergeant and a private contractor were able to reveal hundreds of secret documents, when their restriction to access would have been without question had they been properly screened. I am the same way about this as I am about drug-testing; test everyone or test no one.
