Hi I am restoring a Mk3 commando and looking at ordering new battery to starter leads. There appear to be 2 possible ground leads one a couple of inches longer than the other and are dependent on which way the battery faces. The manual shows the battery facing with the terminals facing backward and I am assuming this is to facilitate wiring to the solenoid. My question is does it matter which way the battery faces ? Thx Drummer99

Main consideration is dependent on which battery you buy, with a lead acid you have a vent tube and is normally to the outside behind the side cover, then down to the swing arm gap. With two different batteries available , the terminals can be either front or back. front is short cable, rear is long cable. Long cable works on both.

Dyno hi they are likely your cables right ? I will buy the long one I also will likely get your starter as well are they readily available I am not quite ready for it yet
Thx Jack

I will get the longer cable

I make up my own cables and usually make them slightly longer than necessary so the terminals can be cut off and replaced as longer generally isn't a problem. :)
