On my second ride on the California, I dropped off a medium to high curb onto the road and the front exhaust clamps caught the kerb edge....luckily no real damage. Will be more careful in future. Otherwise it ran normally, at 340 miles total , and fantastic sunny day in SE England. I do find seeing the oil level on the knurled dipstick is not easy, especially as oil is lighter colour/thinner/cleaner than on my older bikes!

Yeah, I took a chunk out of my shed door frame / step the same way!

I rotated the clamps 180, bolts pointing upwards, gained half an inch of clearance and it looks neater too.

It's an issue, especially in bright sunlight.
I just place the stick against a piece of paper towel, then roll the the stick aside, viola - the stained paper shows the true oil level.

Get some more miles on that oil , it will darken up a bit .

I broke the clamp on my silencer after going over a 3 to 4" curb. Really didn't think I would bottom out like that. Didn't know it was broken until the pipe came off and the bike sounded REALLY cool.
