Had a good ride on the mk3 today. I think I have to change the bars back to stock roadster bars as these are a bit too low for my bad back (let me know if you want to buy these ones on it). The bike still runs great. After the 2013 restoration I have 13,800 miles on it. This bike has been very reliable, in part because of the cNw parts. I never have to use the kick start, since I fitted their upgraded starter mechanism. Here are some pics from today’s ride. Have fun everyone,

13,800 miles its just run in, but if you keep up with the maintenance our Norton's are very reliable and the more you ride them the better they are, anyway its looking good Jerry, mine is showing its age now but still goes great, not riding it as a everyday rider these days as it use to be most of it life with me, but its only let me down with one broken chain and the other time it lost the retaining clip for the chain and 2 failed EI the first one back in 79 and the other first Boyar failed 100 miles from home back in 82 but mind you that was 2 weeks after the major fire.

Jerry, Good for you, the weather looks conducive for a ride, and glad you are having a good one. Thank you for your continuing effort keeping this Forum happening for the "greater good" for all us Norton enthusiasts to help each other out to keep these machines alive and out of the scrap heap. Sincerely, Dave.

Hi Dave, appreciate the good words. Yep we got to keep them on the road somehow. They are so unique.

Did about 150 miles today, didn’t miss a beat. It sounds great. Rode through 2 rainstorms. Bummer as I just gave it it’s yearly wash and clean.

You are right Ashley. It’s runs better than ever. Idles perfectly. I am using that royal purple motorcycle oil and I think it helps too. The only issue I had was a trispark failure. Ride safe mate

Good pictures, having the front brake on the “correct” side, caliper to the rear, certainly makes it look more balanced.

Now that’ s a good looking bike!
Interestingly I hadn’t seen a green Commando until I went onto this forum, most late bikes in Oz seemed to be red, black, silver or JPN colour scheme.
Regards
Al

Old wife's tail about green bikes being unlucky, well I have 2 Green Thruxton's and so far been lucky with both, touch wood.

A life with scoliosis I understand and sympathize. Took my MK 111 up to Lake Simcoe yesterday. Ran great.

Took my Mk III for a run also Sunday( First Sunday gathering at the Legion), stuck in 4th gear Not so good. That's life with my old bikes

As it's been a while for social gatherings, out of curiosity, did you remember to remove your hat ... helmets are mandatory in the province where I live so it's easy rolling up to the
Legion to remember not to put it on before you enter.
(Hats off to you for your post!)

Great looking bike & scenery Jerry - Thanks for sharing !
Seems we were all star crossed on Sunday - Had a nice ride out on my Commando as well .

I better get my butt in gear with this rebuild, these posts are making me anxious
