Grease the Swing Arm Spindle

Oh yes ---- very important. Take out the 1/4" bolt on top of the swingarm cavity so you don't have a bang and also you can tell when it is full. I did have a bang once and it was a PIA to fix. The threaded spoke which holds the round covers on "popped" and stripped the thread.

I don't know what threads the end cap on the swing arm spindle are, but here's a site with BSP thread grease zerks

Only thing that might go bang may be the sealing end plates or the threads that hold the normal top 'trap' and fill bolt. It the lore I learned a decade ago its was taboo to put grease in un-modified spindle as nil got through to the spindle and most would just ooze past the o rings, leaving a lot of the spindle un lubed and rust prone to become trapped yet loose as a goose. There may be an issue of grease only reaching one side and not making it to the other before excess just oozed past seals. Grease is the best stuff for spindle type articulation but getting it in there can be dicey w/o specific modification for it.

Its worth while to pull the spindle out and inspect it for wear insights and base line to compare every few years.
