Interesting stuff.
Wonder what is inside them ?

Can I hear Joe sharpening his 'protect my trademark' pencil ?

Those appear to be rebadged Speedhut units (with a BIG markup) and there have been a few threads on them here. FWIW per Speedhut they are negative ground ONLY but do stand up to vibration OK (I emailed them awhile back)

I am friends with the people at legendary motorcycles. I have a set and I am working on the install instructions for the positive earth. they WILL work just fine as the electronics are fully isolated from the case. the thing is the switched wires are on the positive side where we switch the negative BUT it is a simple workaround. I have talked to speedhut's tech line on some more info I will be putting in the directions that they do not include. the speedo has a blk ground lead, a red turn on lead, a white dial face light lead and a re/blk keep alive lead. the keep alive draw is only 25 micro amps so it should not be an issue unless you park it for extremely long periods and you can also switch this also IF you feel the need. it also has an DC to AC modual to light up the needle that will also need to be switched.

Ditto on the good looking unit, especially when lit up. My only complaint is he didn't use my bike for a test bed. I'd be happy to give em a 5 or 6 year trial run...

here is something else to ponder. the cost for a speedo rebuild is approaching $200.00 and it is still a low dollar POS than the cost of the drive gear of over $100.00 again a POS than a cable IMHO it is not all that bad a price. even more so as ALL the extra functions and it has a reasonable faxsimally of the Norton face. like has been said the cheapest part on a Norton is the rider :D

I have a perfectly good speedo and a nice new cable hanging on the wall. The gear unit on the wheel crapped out. I have a $12 Schwinn digital speedo that works fine up to 74 mph or so. I may have a lead on some parts to rebuild the gear.

Totally agree with Bill here, I fitted a Speed Hut speedo to my series Landrover, no more cables, drive unit that causes the needle to wave happily at you or $200 rebuilds all on the same pos

I must admit I'm finding this rather tempting - if you need a speedo and a drive as well as the cable it does look rather tempting.

Hmmmm.......... 8)

one more note on these. the normal 3 3/8 units from speedhut WILL NOT fit the norton cups. it is an extre charge to have them reduced in size so the will fit.

How do they secure into the cups? The quoted size on speedhut is 1.1 inches deep and the photos on the Legendary site look similar.
Quoted size for the 3 3/8 in cups narrowest part is 3.30 in. My gauge cups measure 3.3-3.31 so agree, doubt they are meant to fit like wheel bearings.

From what I've read Sigma bicycle speedos work for higher MC speeds up to 180mph/300kmh. Garmin also makes a wireless rechargeable GPS bicycle speedo that I'm using and it works well and stores tracks FWIW. I'll probably wire up a mini usb cord for it eventually so I'll no longer need to recharge it...

I was reaching for my wallet until I got to the "silicone them in place" part, I just do not trust that! (and that's too bad, they solve several problems at once for me).

And I already spent $500.00 in "Norton money" today.

in conversation tonight with the people that are doing them they are working on having the studs in the VERY near future. as to the silicone to hold them you would be amazed at what is retained with it and its holding ability. also if any one wants to see them light up I could get some pics.

I have just recently fitted one, a short length of duct tape around the body,it squeezed into the cup and is held very firmly and no sign of it being a 'bodge'. Finding a suitable place for the 'antenna' is more of a problem, it is currently on the backplate under the numberplate and it tends to slide a bit on bumpy roads although the magnet is too strong for it to come off.
