Gold Star

Hello
I’m looking to find someone who’s very knowledgeable of the Gold Star.

I’m interested in the possibility of purchasing this Gold Star but I would like to first know if anyone can tell me if the gauges are original or not? Of all the other GS I seen, they all have the top sweeping gauges from right to left, unlike the one I’m looking at that is bottom sweeping and left to right.

I’m also wondering if anyone can point out anything else that may look out of place besides the carb and air filter.

Are the original gauges, carbs and velocity stacks to be found to purchase to put this bike back to period original?

Bike is in the USA, seller states it was in a private collection and was originally sold as new in Japan.

Can’t help with your questions, but it does look stunning !

The clock mounts look loose. Could be a sign many other things are loose, might be prudent to give this a SERIOUS recommissioning.

Looks like a 1000 series racing carb, with no slide adjustment (tickover) or even tickler ? I didn’t think 1000 series carbs had chokes either. Probably best to stick a Mikuni on it if you actually want it to start n run nice.

If you look at the video then from the driveside the tickler is just visible, so a left hand carb has been fitted when a right hand would have allowed access to the vital adjustments. Does make you wonder what the mechanicals are like compared to the shiny bits.

I had thought that goldstars had a 150mph clock?
But I may have imagined that
I also would have expected to see a clutch adjustment blanking plug in the chaincase
I'm sure their are many gold star experts out there that can point all these things out

I couldn’t see that in the pics but I do see it in the video.
