Getting older is a bastard...

Wow. Some people here moan about the NHS.. I've had multiple eye surgery, both cataracts & lenses fitted, currently lying in hospital about to go down for a pacemaker to be fitted
God bless our NHS it's fantastic & free at the point of use
Yes. Our health service is ok but I don't think it is as good as NHS. What will you do now all your nurses are gone? I think Boris's nurses were Portugese and Nzer.

The glare from that big star in the sky is a PITA no matter where you are on this planet. I use a full face helmet but durning the last century I was for a time a dispatch rider, but had a steeply raked screen with a flip up that was positioned exactly 10 inches from my nose and the top just below my eyes, so I was able to ride with my visor half open all day. The one thing I had a big problem with was the glare from the sun at dawn and dust, I solved by fitting the bottom 1/3 of the visor with a mirror stick on which I was able to adjust using it as a peak, you get the drift. With sunglasses, either those ajusting light type, or mirror type will help in keeping the Ray's out of your eyes.
Same as me ;)

I have a Shoei full face with an internal sun visor which works well. Prior to that, on my full face visors, I used to stick insulation tape on the top of the visor, such that I could lower my head and the tape would act like a ‘peak’ and keep the sun out.

I ride with an open face on the road most of the time though, and have the same problem as you Rob, my conclusion at the moment is to buy a new one face lid with a peak, like the old Bell helmets.
Though having no resemblance to Pinocchio, the tip of my nose hits the Shoei flip down sun visor.

Maybe try Arai... it was always ‘common knowledge‘ that you had EITHER an Arai head OR a Shoei head.

Not sure if that rule applies to noses though...

There are a lot of different full face helmets out there, some will not quite fit Pinocchio, but close.

I was lying.
Not my Shoei, it was my HJC FG-ST.
Nose a bit closer to sun visor now.

Pacemaker is a good move, I have had 3!, My dad had one and it refused to let him die till over 100 yrs. Don't fiddle with it. All done under local, But a bit weird feeling them poke holes in your heart!.

I know I don't have some of the problems that many of you blokes have - Hips, Knees, etc - but things aren't getting better.
One of my annoyances at present is riding into the sun.
Didn't seem to be so bad a few (okay, okay... maybe more than a few) years ago, but now it's a squinting bastard!
What are your views of the best way to make this more bearable (& safe!) - suitable for open face helmet.
I currently wear goodish (Maui Jim) sunglasses under Davida Goggles (Retro Pilot T2) - surgery near one eye means I need goggles to limit air swirling over that eye.
Looking forward to your advice (I think!)
Cheers
Rob
Well - new silver mirrored lenses for my Aviator T2 goggles arrived today.
I fitted them and the difference is much more significant than I expected.
Now just got to wait for a setting sun for the ultimate test.... (there have been clouds near the horizon for the last few days)
Cheers

Let us know how the mirrored lenses work out. I just bought tinted lenses for my T2s as carrying glasses and sunglasses everywhere is a PITA!

I decided I wasn’t cool enough to pull off the mirrored lenses tho...

Now I can chuck a tantrum, jumping up and down on the couch, like "top gun" thingie!

Putting on my Mr Sensible head for once, just remember when we ride into the setting sun, that's the time when most car drivers are squinting through their fly encrusted windscreens, those that aren't looking at the phone or satnav, that is!! Ups the odds of: 'Sorry Mate, didn't see you' So be aware and ride safely people :)
