... or in my case, getting a LH silencer to fit the RH side! Yes, Norton warranty sent me a LH and I hadn't noticed. Spent the best part of the weekend getting it to fit on the right, and getting the left to mirror it, a lump hammer came in handy :)

I think I did a better job than the factory as my original silencers never did sit properly. Also note, I removed the 'off road' tags as well, it will be MoT time in 12mth and if they (or the police) spot the tags then it is an instant fail.

She took 4 attempts to start on a half charged battery, not bad after an 8mth lay up, I even managed a 2 metre ride :)

Had the same problem couple of years ago 2 left ones, took them back only for the quality of the exhausts were poor gave them back to Norton. Sent me a pair next so fitted with a de cat pipe. Rang up to make an appointment for re map as I was having high revs on tick over, we can sort that was the reply. Went to Donnington remap done it was terrible and still high revs spent about half an hour there still revving and loud banging in the new pipes over fueling does not do an engine any good. I was told after half an hour that you are four days out of warranty you have to come back and pay pretty p———d off by that. Put standard pipes back on and sorted the high revs out. But I still love my 961. 200 mile round trip to Norton.

I'm still tempted to fit a set of high rise pipes/silencers if I can get the 961 over to the exhaust fabricator, then cover in a custom alloy tail. I removed the seat hump a while back just to see what space was available and give me something to think about over the Winter months.... plenty of space and the last 8 inch of chassis is doing nowt in a solo setup.

That's got my angle grinder finger twitching.

Maybe a nice roll bag could fill that space ..... for when this lockdown lifts ...

If you took the airbox off and fitted pod type filters you could route the pipes around the cylinder barrels and then up through the airbox space...

Nice tank btw.

I have a feeling that the airbox would have to be removed from the front, dunno. With the wide footpegs there is ample room for the pipes to travel above the timing/gearbox covers at shin height (with heat guards) then upwards inside the rear shocks without hindering full wheel travel, then a couple of shaped silencers on the outside of those top rails. I know a man that could do that, his work is ace. I really need to convince myself that I am keeping the bike first though.

Ally tank is good but a real pita to keep clean. The original white tank is still in the same place as in photo but now covered in bird shite and other detritus, I forgot I left it there. Maybe in another 20 years I can claim it as a barn find :)

Still a lot of tubing for breathers, clutch etc. and the airbox/side panel is something that floats my boat.
