2018 Cafe Racer Mk 2. Difficult to engage 1st gear from standstill. Is this normal? All other gear changes are fine.

That's not normal in my experience. Does it get any better if you pump the clutch lever first?

No pumping makes no difference. Have bled the clutch but no difference. Works fine going up and down the gears during travelling.

Is it possible that your gear selector shaft is not centered on its mounting ? What that means is you won't get full throw in one direction , up or down. Richard-7 posted a manual describing the alignment which involves centering the mechanism before tightening down.

I am currently experiencing this same problem after grounding the gear change lever. Cannot select first when stationary, unless I roll the bike forward whilst doing so. I have clearly changed the linkage relationship in some way - bent slightly of mal-adjusted it. I will try adjusting the linkage first before centrering the gear selector. Strongly suspect the gear selector has never been centred correctly on my bike as I have had problems in this area before, which arose when I had two failed gear selector rods.

Not a difficult fix methinks, given Richard‘s manual and the guidance of Tony and others. Gotta love this forum:D!
