For anyone that is interested I just bought a set of vinyl decals that are silver with a black border. They are on ebay. Search Norton decals.

Well I guess if they suck you'll have a few good decals for the old tool box. Report back once you get them.

If they are from fromeanothertime then go straight to toobox, tried all sorts of clear but they wrinkled with everything. They are produced on a inkjet printer on decal paper

Yup same things happened to the ones i purchased from "fromanother time" seller on ebay - looked nice till the clear coat hit them
seller is a nice guy but get the real vinyl decals

3M/Gerber high performance vinyl is the way to go. But, if theres a small black outline it might be a little tricky. How thin is the outline?

FWIW - I originally had "Roadholder" decals on my fork shrouds - got them from the NOC spares - or was it Walridge? They shattered/cracked when I put clear over them. I guess waterslide decals and clearcoat don't mix.

Decided they were too Dominator looking so got rid of them.

If they are coming from the guy in Michigan, they are great. Take care in applying them though. I suggest you follow his instructions on applying a couple of drops of dish detergent
in a spray bottle. If they wrinkle, you are done. They only come off with a heat gun and in pieces. I'm now an expert as it took a second set to get it perfect.
