Fuel Pump Blues

I don't remember brand , but Donington Norton had a black and a blue relay OEN .

I thought I'd revive this one, rather than start another thread.

My bike has been a bit moody to start a few times in the last week and a bit. Not all the time though, somewhat intermittent. Cranks strongly, but wasn't firing. Once it does fire, runs without issue.

After some simple testing today I noticed that I don't always hear the fuel pump start. If I turn the key a few times, once it does, it fires straight up.

I'm assuming the same fault as @Stephen_Spencer and going to replace the relay.

Out of interest - can the brains trust identify which of the branded relays this is? it seems unmarked:

Look at this thread :

@Claudio I notice that the Bosch unit you're using is a resistor unit rather than diode. Was there a deliberate reason you changed to that?

As mentioned in other threads if you are fitting a diode relay just make sure the polarity of the coil contacts is correct. You may have to swap the wiring to the holder.

Norton at that time had supplied both the diode type and then the non-diode supressor type relay with the OEN brand. Look in the link above , and I have had good luck with the OMRON Honda relay.
