Is there such a thing as a fitting that will attach to the carb fuel line connectors, with a 1/4" barb on the other end? I'm looking to connect an auxiliary fuel supply to my carbs without taking the fuel lines off.

TIA

Check here - couple of different barb sizes available. You want 1/4" BSP.

Am I reading it right that 545K116 is for ~5/16" ID (8mm) hose and the threads are the same as those on a petcock? Also, 545K114 is the same except for ~1/4" ID (6mm) hose?

How, exactly?

Do you mean a fitting that can be attached to the fuel line tap/petcock 1/4 BSP nut (it isn't BSPT) after the nut has been disconnected?

Yes. Disconnect the nuts from the tank, remove the tank, and connect hoses with (BSP?) fittings to the carb lines.

I had a second look, these might work better - They are BSPP, like the petcocks

Fortunately, I called McMaster-Carr, cancelled the wrong ones and added the right ones. The are twice as expensive but I will finally have the temp gas tank I've been wanting! Ordered a "Y" adapter too so now I'll be able to connect a standard remote tank to the two fuel lines.

These fittings should really have a female taper. If they haven’t they’ll most likely still work, with care. But do ensure you don’t over tighten them otherwise you could easily damage the male taper on your fuel line fitting and cause leaks when the tank is fitted.

What did you get for the Y adapter?

I have one of these:

I took the silly little valve they supply it with off, and fitted a standard petcock the same as I have on the bike.
So I just screw the 1/4" BSP connector straight on.

The fuel flow is enough to feed both carbs, so if the tank is still on, I can just leave the other petcock attached but turned off.

If the tank is off, I just connect a spare petcock to the other side and leave it closed.

Crap! Simple solutions sometimes escape me! Oh well, I'll have a fancy version soon.
