The fiberglass tanks on Commandos have a pretty bad rep. And the replacement tanks from India often have their issues. Ethanol is hard on steel tanks. Makes me wonder why we aren't putting an internal fuel cell (or bladder) inside the stock Commando tank?

Let us know how that works for you. I'd take my chances on a steel replacement tank with no enhancements.

Airplanes often have bladders. They do work. But yes there would have to be fiddle for the petcocks. Anything is doable at some level.

My tank is baffled so you could never get a bladder in there. A lot of the dirt bike guys use filter bags in the tanks.

I believe many dirt bikes have all vent/feed lines running out near or through the filler cap, no? Would be easier to work a bladder that way.

It seams to me the easiest fiberglass tank save would be to make a plastic tank with petcock bungs and a filler to mate with the original cap. Make it slightly smaller so you could cut the bottom out of the fiberglass tank and fit it over the plastic tank.

What plastic would you use that would be impervious to ethanol?

Slick

Whatever Acerbis uses in their upsized dirt bike tanks would work , some swelling reported but no leaking ….
