Bike has come back from repairs ( insurance) things not right .has anyone got a photo of a RGM 12” disc distance from fork leg as mine is nearly touching fork leg ! They built the front wheel with wrong offset ,when I complained,I think they moved wheel hub over see photo of other side not meant to have a gap ,thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

There should be a gap but not as much as it looks in your picture.

Thanks but I need photo of other side I have only 12 thou clearance between disc and leg

Do you have a picture of the opposite side of the hub as the hub assembly should be tight against the disc-side fork slider and held there by the head of the axle? The usual disc-to-slider gap is approximately 1/8".

pretty close bobbins nearly touching

Hi , I have a 73 mk5 with the RGM disc kit , I just cleaned up a piece of scrap 2.5 mm alloy and it just goes in a little too firm so I would estimate about 2.3 to 2.4 mm , on mine Cheers Vaughn.

If it helps measuring with two rulers, one on disc face out to rim edge I get 32. mm , my rim width is 68.7 mm . Bit tricky to measure .Cheers

Phipps,
Did you get this problem figured out? I have a friend with the same issue and RGM was no help.
Thanks,
Mike

That has to be a right hand side disc bike.

The distance from the rotor to the fork slider is set/dictated by the wider R/H chromed axle cover/spacer and rotor offset given the wheel is pinned to the right hand fork. (Maybe 2 mm with a stock OEM rotor to the slider)
The shoulder on the left hand side of the axle presses against the (narrow) spacer on that side to be able to pin the fork to the right, the left fork floating on the axle until the pinch bolt is tightened.

That picture is confusing (late ish at night) because it seems to show a gap (blue grease ? and probably an allusion otherwise the brake pads would be holding the wheel axially ) from the shoulder to the axle cover spacer when it should be hard up.
From the fork inner side to the left narrow cover/spacer would normally be around 2.5 mm as SR posted.

(I would imagine the Mk3 with the rotor on the left would be the same but the wheel and axle reversed to pin things to the left hand fork)

I have Norvil 12” Twin discs on my Mk3 with AP Racing calipers. The gaps between the discs and the fork legs have always bothered me as they look extremely tight. Measured with feeler gauges the gaps measure out at 1.5mm on the right side and 1.9mm on the left side.
