Jerry won't say it so I will. This is clearly not his issue and in fact, it's not one issue but at least two or three.

Of course he wants it to work for everyone but he cannot come to your house and fix your issue! He asks for diagnostic info and gets crickets most of the time.

Please virtually get together and choose one of you to work with Jerry - preferably someone with Apple and non-Apple devices at their disposal. Once that one is worked though maybe most will be OK and the next one can step up.

I realize that to most of you who have no clue about IT this is frustrating - that doesn't change the fact that there is nothing wrong on Jerry's end. It's possible that there are Apple settings causing this. For instance, having proxy set is almost always wrong. Going through a VPN to hide your address can easily cause problems. Some Internet providers limit bandwidth and you could be hitting those limits. Your device might be low on free memory or storage.

If you haven't done a full power-off, please do that before anything else.

Hi Jerry, my last reply was from my Ipad, as I got “ Page could not be loaded “ on my wired Windows PC. were you doing anything?

I personally think that it's something Apple have screwed up (not for the first time), but why it is only affecting Access Norton is beyond me.

I was rebooting apache server, so that might be why you saw that.

I realize that for you it's only Access Norton. But there are millions of sites and you've tried a few.

There are a few paths across the Atlantic and they end up at hubs. Those hubs tie to more hubs. You go through a few to a lot of routers to get from your device to Jerry's server and EVERY connection is individual when working with web sites. To get a one page display might take 10 connections to the server and as many as 20 more to DNS servers and those connections can take any number of different routes (not usually, but can).

So, anything slightly slow can easily compound. This has nothing to do with Jerry - just a fact of life with the Internet in general and the World Wide Web in particular.

In view of this protracted thread showing our concerns I remembered my iPad Air2 hasn’t seen any use for quite a while - it’s got a dead battery which is partly why I bought my iPad Pro

so, I’ve powered it up and allowed it to settle down as it really doesn’t like to work right away.

it has let me know that it’s on iOS 14.3 and wants an upgrade.

I've logged in here and it works fine with no stumbling or such like. I’ll update it to 14.6 and see if that makes any difference. I‘ll be back once it has done the update.

I totally agree Greg, and I don't blame Jerry one iota, which is why I've been working with him to try and pinpoint the issue.

I thought this was good news for the site. We are graded as B in getmetrix. Here is a screen shot of our page load data. Its not bad for a big site like this. Also. I just disabled one of the server cache mechanisms (memcached) just in case that had anything to do with the Apple devices. I am curious Landspeedracer on your test results regarding the iPad uprade.

Conveniently I was just about to.

Well that update took nigh on 2 hours. I have a feeling I have missed a couple in between and there was a lot of stuff they wanted to cram inside.

my initial findings are that the update from 14.3 to 14.6 has slowed down the response time. It now exhibits the same delays as my iPad Pro. Sometimes it’s instantaneous, others it gives the white screen as stated previously, it was fine on 14.3 to my knowledge in the short time I used it.

both are better than when I initially raised a concern. It’s not mission critical for me, if there’s a delay then I’ll visit somewhere else and come back.

Oh, it took 2 attempts for my reply to ’stick’
New test. Close your browser reopen and go to this site. Do not click again unless 20 seconds has passed - be sure to actually time it. Time how long it takes and report back. If you do click again, time that.

Point? Let's say the first attempt would have taken 6 seconds, but you clicked again at 5 seconds. That tells your browser to forget the first attempt and start over.

It takes seven or eight tries to open each page with my Android or with the desktop.
This started about six months ago for me.
Eventually the desired page opens. The initial tries result in a couple of different " AccessNorton is not currently available" pages.
I suspect this is a different problem from the one others are having.

Glen
Glen,

My PC works instantly as does my Android phone - both on WIFI. What phone do you have. Is it up to date? Are you using WIFI or data? Since you are not a VIP member, it is supposed to be slower (ADs loading). When you try to open a page, how long are you waiting (please time). Have you used the Device Care app to cleanup you phone? Which browser are you using on your phone?

Just read several articles that say when the upgrade is finished there are still upgrades happening in the background and it can take overnight for them to finish. Here's one example: https://osxdaily.com/2020/09/25/ios-14-feels-slow-heres-why-how-to-speed-it-up/

I thought about trying some of that, but what I have works perfectly now on all of the five other forums I visit. It also works perfectly and very quickly on all internet sites that I go on.

So, with all of that working perfectly, should I start messing with settings on my end? Not being a techie I might just mess up a functioning item.

I wouldn't "mess with settings" but I would do the last recommendation - power off and back on.

Hi Glen, this site should load as well as if not better than the other ones. I made an adjustment of something on the server. Is it still bad?

Cliff or someone on the iPad issue- is it any better now?

I've done that a few times over the months, no change.
Jerry- Yes still loads no-go pages four or five times then eventually opens the desired post/thread etc. This is for Android, no Apple here.

Ok thanks. I am digging deep on these load issues. All who are experiencing any issues- Please check every now and then and make sure you let me know if any improvement. I am tweaking things more.
Its always hard to find an issue like this when it doesn't happen to me.
