While I don't necessarily believe that paying the highest price is any guarantee of receiving the highest quality, there is a lot to be said of "You get what you pay for". https://www.oldbritts.com/nor_comm_73_17.html has proven to be reliable, but a pair will set you back US $320 + shipping! Change the fork oil every spring, and you'll most likely never see them wear out.gortnipper said:Nater_Potater said:If you do decide to replace them, spring for the better tubes. It'll be better for you in the long run.
Which ones are those? "Genuine"? British Cycle lists a few (not including the + lengths)...
06-3423 FORKTUBE,COMMANDO,STD,UK MADE, EA 69.70
06-3423/A FORKTUBE,COMMANDO,STD,GENUINE, EA 149.56
06-3423/ER FORKTUBES,COMMANDO,STD,ECONO* PR 88.70
What are the cheaper ones?
And far off topic, what is the * represent in the BC price book?
There's been reports of inferior plating from the "budget" tubes, and that directly relates to both shortened seal life and sloppy slider action. Yuck!
As for the "*" in the BC price book; ???
