First Ride in 2021

A lovely Winter day in Southern California. It was blue skies and 60 degree F temperature, perfect for the first 2021 ride. I did a 51 mile ride through some canyons, with a stop for a picture at the dilapidated church in Moorpark that my carzy daughter bought a couple of years ago. A good way to start the year.

Ken you a lucky guy to live in such a lovely climate ! We got almost a foot of snow Sat. thru Sunday morning , just had enough time to clear it , before sitting down to watch football .... glad to see you out and enjoying what looks like great ride weather !

You gonna tell us why your daughter bought a dilapidated old church building Ken? Or don’t we wanna go there ??

Old Churches are very well built ! With lots of seating , a guy in our Town bought an older Church downtown , he brought in good bands on Saturday nights , these parties became so well attended the local bar owners complained , great acoustics in the old Churches is another plus .... I think you have a very bright daughter !

Nothing very exciting. She hoped to restore and remodel it into either a B&B, or a number of small shops to rent to local craftspeople, or one of several other similar ideas. But she got blindsided by the local building approval bureaucracy, who threw up endless roadblocks. It was all pretty political. At the moment, she's just using it as a storage facility, while working on some property in New York, and is planning to sell it when she gets back.

Shame. Sounds like shes rising above it though. More power to her !

That is really too bad , similar eventually happened here to buddy with the church , he floated a condo but same result , he ended up demolishing and selling the downtown lot , now an eye doctor complex ..,,, however another church in area more local was bought by antique dealer , he just plied the stuff in and folks come and through it , he seems somewhat successful ....

SoCal has a Winter? Thought it was only Spring and Summer. Lucky you. I've been doing 40F rides and thinking I've got it made. Thanks for the pic.
