I was draining my FB tank after every ride. It was a real pain, glad I finally changed to steel. I did keep the original tank, its in the attic.

I have a rare Moto Morini Camel and it has a glass tank. There are no metal replacement options, so on Trident Sam's recommendation I treated it with Flowliner. That was over 2 years ago and so far no signs of degradation.


I suspect my Velocette also has it in it's steel tank and that has been in there at least 8 years. It appears to be as good as new.

In Switzerland I believe it is all E5 petrol, but according to the Flowliner site it is not affected by ethanol.
 
If you're feeling brave, there are Indian made copies of the fastback tank available...
If you buy from the correct source, they will save you a significant amount over the AN replacements, fit, right, look nearly perfect, and not leak.

If you buy from one of the WRONG sources, you might get leaking, it might not fit, and/or might not look exactly right..

I wonder, for anyone who KNOWS, that can answer: Who actually fabricates the AN units (and where are they based), and who actually FABRICATES the Norvil ones?
 
norvil (UK) sell British made alloy Fastback tanks for £530.
The only alloy fastback tank I've seen from norvil was very good quality but very square looking on the top
This was a few years ago
 
i have acquired an Emgo copy of the roadster tank in steel. I'm still debating best way to turn out a copy of the Dunstall in aluminum. i was also draining the dunstall fiberglas tank after every ride, it didn't take long but you needed a jerry can with the right capacity...

We got the head off, and the bore looks really good, I'm going to clean it all up, and reassemble it and then try again.
