Fell in my lap, '15 Commando Sport MK1

Salvage has plenty of value. My buddy bought a RSV4 for 1600. US. All the damage was cosmetic to the plastics and a clip on. So...now he has a naked.

Well, 3 months later, and multiple delays, It has arrived safely.. Now to get the parts together to build this thing!

Im struggling with OEM parts obviously like a lot of members on here, and people around the world. I think the only things I wouldnt be able to find aftermarket are the Front carbon fender, and If i could also add that Carbon fairing in the front.

Any leads?

Ohlins forks are 961 specific, fgrt 816_2....just dont expect any change from £2500 though. Wheel, try Central Wheels. Discs, iirc were the same as Duc 748/916 and Brembo...but ebc look cooler. Front mudguard is a doddle, its a copy of a Triumph 675 carbon mudguard....but used Nortons own steel brackets.

Ooooh actually, I may have skimmed past this early in the thread.....if its rwu Ohlins, then ignore everything I said about the forks and mudguard. I dont know the rwu specs, and Im pretty sure I dont have it written down anywhere. I'll check tomorrow though.

You are a master ! And please do, any info would be helpful!

Do you have a plan for this project yet?

IMHO re holding back to stock doesn’t make good sense, it’ll be a very expensive way of ending up with a stock bike!

Better to take the opportunity to give your imagination a canvass...

As its an early bike, where there appears to be a few reported cases of bottom yokes failing.... you may be much better off just putting a complete front end in from another bike, in my opinon. You could then get a wire spoked wheel made to suit...again, someone like Central Wheels (as they supplied Norton).

Yeah, I'll look out for an aftermarket exhaust, and was thinking rather than getting spoke wheels, Why not upgrade both to Carbon Wheels.

Yup, Im looking out for rwu forks, and rear shocks

Come to think of it, What would stop me from buying a Street triple front end. forks, brakes etc etc.. i'll be done with one part of the build, and would be upgraded rather than the RSU stockers. right?

Ah, a Triton !? That’d work. Some work required sourcing and fitting CF wheels, and getting yokes made etc I guess, but nothing too onerous.

Or you could do something interesting (I do seem to find that it is far easier being adventurous, and ignoring the costs, when it’s someone else’s project) :D

I've seen that setup on a bike. was it the American made one, Confederate or something?

I think ill just stick to a OEM front end, I'd rather spend less and track the thing, Got other bikes for longer rides, and the city.

Could anyone help with the front 43mm Ohlin fork part number? if anyone has a Commando Sport on the forums ?

Oh, now that would be the start of something incredible.
Similar tech to the Britton's non-telescoping forks.
You'd need to make some changes to components on the front end like headlight, fender, screen, bars.
But you'd have one unique ride.
And add a supercharger, you would get the cover of Iron Horse magazine, well you would need a babe in a bikini on the bike too.

You could call it the Norton Girder.
