So i've been talking about Nortons for months, and a good buddy of mine is in the whole salvage auto business. suddenly he sends me an Auction on Copart for a '15 Commando sport, Salvage title (Dismantled) .

Yesterday was my 34th Birthday and said, What the heck, lets go for it. :p

Highest bid, $3K, I wouldnt dare say no to a Norton for that cheap hahah! now to find all the parts that are missing on this bike, Should be shipped in a couple of weeks, and land in Dubai, by October. And the work will commence.

Some say Salvage has no value, Over here they're register-able, and why not have a fun track bike while I'm at it haha!
I dont know who's owned this bike, 6k Miles, and Clean Carfax.
Maybe someone would know who this bike was owned by, bought from California.

Dont you think it'll look nice parked next to my '68 Bullitt?

Great project bike.
Just get a GXSR front end, and rear mag wheel off eBay, and you got something really special - Norzuki 961.

Finding it a bit tough to find fork specs, and part numbers for the shocks, and wheel specs, brakes etc.

Might need to find a service or parts manual, for the modern Norton's.

Dune,
Email Dan Kyle in the USA, they are the largest Ohlins dealer in the USA (possibly world) and Dan knows his shit, and I’m sure had be able to help with specs.
Actually, I just bought a pair of shocks from him (based on your input in another thread ;)) for another bike I’ve just bought.
Dan is at: dan@kyleusa.com

And by the way, my guess is your bike might not have had front end damage etc (surely the yokes would be broken), it looks like someone has simply removed the high value items from the bike!
But why...? Maybe there were other issue...?Might be worth checking out that the engine runs and sounds good before pumping big money into it...

I'm sure he does, I might have to send him a message , unfortunately I need to see the bike in person, and figure out the OEM parts on the bikes, if I wanted inverted front forks I might have to change the triples, and some other things here and there.

About other issues as soon as I get it, I'll look at what's up, could need gaskets, pistons, god knows what would be the issue with the bike in terms of wiring or even drivetrain issues.

Just a thought, but maybe the new Norton Parent company (TRV I think it is) might be able to help (even if they just connect you with their supplier). That said I think I be looking for a Gixxer front end liked mentioned earlier.

I do have a gxsr front end laying around at home, but they are Shoei's and I think they're a larger diameter.

From what I information I have found is that the Sport MK1 had 43 cm forks ? Correct me if I'm wrong

CBR600 F4 has conventional 43mm front forks long enough for the Classic Commando. I am converting a set, the fork lowers polish up nicely and there are adaptors to allow Brembo Gold line 30/34 caliper to be fitted with twin 300mm discs.

This is a database that is for USD forks but includes conventional as well

This one includes more models but only by fork stanchion diameter, you have to search for other data

Dune,
Use Hinckley Triumph forks etc and you got yourself a Triton !!

Maybe use the Hinckley engine too...;)

It says Sport (MK1) on the air box so you've got the Sport RWU trees . If they are not damaged or frame either , then go with RWU forks . At least the rear wheel looks whole so just shocks in the back. There are a variety of good shocks available even cheaper pre-load only adjustable Ohlins . You can have some real enjoyment with this project and it seems you have the right attitude for it . If it were me I would never put a Triumph engine in it. Keep a real Norton lump in it . If you want a Thaiumph buy one ! Good luck and keep us posted .

Well, I did add the ;) symbol Tony which is the international symbol to show I was at least half joking.

If the Norton motor checks out good then of course Dune should run it.

But if not...

It will be very interesting to know what actually happened to that bike . Why would they strip it like that otherwise ? A 2015 MK1 so SC ECU , and he is in luck there because at least he can work with SCS Delta . Once he gets it see if the engine turns over etc.. Nice parts bike for sure . Does anybody know if production of Norton bikes has started again ?

Thanks for the info, that will surely be helpful !

Why would I put a triumph engine in it LOL, every bike/car comes with its own characteristics, I'd keep it at that, and see how it goes. I do have a 2002 Bonneville, fun to ride, a bit sluggish, but at the same time it's a nice light ride compared to my HD Dyna
