Hi All,

Just a few words re: the installation and first tests of Mr Comstock's kit (fitted on my Dominator chassis / Commando clutch / Dominator gearbox):
- Installation is really straighforward as per Jim's instruction.
- Bleeding the hydraulic circuit may take some time but ends up with no bubbles at all.
- Usage is very smooth and more "linear" than with the cable-actuated system (far less ON / OFF effect than before. Quite nice in town traffic for instance).

If you plan to install it on a Dominator chassis, ask Jim for a longer hose to avoid tight bends or the hose being squeezed by the gas tank (maybe due to the shape of the European Dominator gas tank).
I changed the original hose for one of 140 centimeters long (excluding the banjo) and it's fine now.

Rather than enlarging the cable tensioner hole in the geatbox outer cover, I cut a slot in the cover allowing to remove and re-install the cover whitout having to disconnect / re-connect the hydraulic line (with all the associated drawbacks).
I use an O-ring to plug the slot.

Hope this helps!

Merci Jim. Really good job!

Laurent

I concur with all of the praise Laurent. And with the idea to slot, rather than enlarge, the outer cover hole!

I was one of the first buyers through CNW of Jim's hydraulic clutch some years ago. I love it, will never go back to a cable.
Smooth and linear pull and release, just perfect.
But then I am big fan of CNW/Jim's products, also buying his much more robust head steady.

Thanks,
The slot in the cover works well. I was glad mine was slotted when I had to replace the kicker pawl behind a hotel in Texas a few years ago...

It's actually not a big deal though. Once the clutch has been bled it will quickly clear out any bubles with just a few pumps of the lever as long as the hose is plugged or tied up to the handlebarl level so the fluid doesn't drain from the master while it's disconnected. Jim
