dear All,
can you tell what are the original handlbar grips for a Fastback year 1969?
should I go for the amal style or alternatively for the classic gran turismo style?
Thank you for helping!

I guess the Amal style grips were mounted originally looking at old pictures from that time.

I think the sad truth is that they suit older hands better !

Well that’s the case for me at least. I used to hate them with a passion. For me they felt clumsy, gave less feel and dexterity.

But I have them fitted to two of my bikes now as they do help reduce the numbness in my fingers that I can get after a while otherwise.

The need for surgical levels of feel and dexterity do not seem so imperative to my evolving riding style these days (read: I don’t need ‘em now I’m getting older and slower) !

I think the original type were Doherty plastic grips. The nearest thing available now is the Amal rubber grips which look more or less the same. I have the Italian Gran Tourismo type on all my bikes because they are comfortable. Best to fit the type to suit your hands, unless you're just building it to look at.

yes, I guess so.. then why everyone is mounting the gran turismo as original?
Well, I also have the Gran Turismo grips on my Commando and will also mount them to my Norton Navigator! Bad vibes!

Lorenzo. This is what was on my ‘69. I suspect it is original.
