Most of the resent content (not the pie BS charts again) shows people who are not working in construction commenting on it to me.
But the internet said as they break a nail on the keyboard.

No bullshit pie charts, the figures came from Worksafe Australia, a statutory body, set up by the last Labor government, to oversee workplace safety here in Australia. So, you would rather go through life relying on dribble such as 1 construction worker died in the Melbourne CBD every 10 days to the actual figures as noted earlier?

26 posts in close to 10 years and a good seal of them in this thread will get you no credit with me.

I don't need internet BS, I have worked construction for over 45 years.
Politics has nothing to do with it, politics ranting is folk who have no real life and prefer to try and debate what they have no intention of changing by personal sacrifice be it for their electorate or country.

What is your construction trade ?
We already know Al is a white collar worker. (not that I hold that against people as a rule)

I have no construction trade, apart from managing and hands on experience in 4 home renovations, 2 major shed builds and a couple of smaller buildings. So I haven't posted as much as you, does that make you an expert in everything. I have enjoyed the to & fro of most topics on this forum, but when an innane comment is made I do feel compelled to correct the situation. You have 45 years experience in the construction industry in the Americas, can you advise how many people died every 10 days because of a lack of work place safety. The issue, if you cared to read the whole thread, pertained to Australia, and specifically one capital city, Melbourne and how the terrible Conservative government was somehow responsible for these deaths. My response was merely to show that allegation was in fact incorrect. Is that a problem? Or does the CFMEU have its tentacles in organised labour in America?

Mr TW, the discussion has nothing whatsoever to do with the “construction” industry, the OP has made some fanciful claims that warrant comment. If you don’t like it or simply can’t be bothered then don’t read it, go out to the garage and and chill.

I apologize, I do not live in Austria but there is a Melbourne in Florida.

Most of my working life was spent as a scientist in large engineering factories. I brought one excellent engineering company up to ISO9000 certification. When you manage risk systematically, you create less loss, including less loss of workers' lives. I must have been a white collar worker because I sometimes wore a white coat. If you are a hands-on trades person, do you really make things happen or are you controlled and directed ?
I am neither anti nor pro union - I simply recognise their role.

No problem with that. Just stop the nonsense that Rupert Murdoch, or John Howard or any political party that is right of centre is somehow responsible for the statements you made previously.

The other day, there was a senate inquiry about News Corp. They asked whether Murdoch got in touch with his editors. The suggestion was that he instructed them politically. Murdoch has never needed to to that. The people who work for him, know his mindset and most people are career oriented. Even the people who work for the ABC will never be negative about Murdoch. Most jof the best ournos end up working for Murdoch at some time or other. A negative public comment about Murdoch by a journo can be a career-limiting strategy.
One afternoon on talk-back radio, I asked an ABC announcer whether she thought Rupert Murdoch was biased. She did everything she could to avoid answering the question.

I would say one thing about John Howard. In years gone by, imported goods were inspected and tested in the interests of public safety. John Howard put the Australian Government Analytical Laboratories on a 'user-pays basis'. It means the testing costs come out of the budget of the inspection authority. These days goods are imported from China and most are not tested. China is a country where there are no unions and very little safety regulation. In Australia, if you make something and sell it, there are usually product liability implications. A current issue is little kids swallowing small lithium batteries and dying. Most of the toys from China contain those batteries, Economic rationalism is not good for public safety. Product quality is also about attention to detail. We did not have a standards association for nothing.

If you pray a lot and use the right words, you do not need to do risk management ? Both John Howard and Scott Morrison have said ' we should address issues as they arise and NOT on the basis of what might happen'. To me that is blatant stupidity.

Nobody should take responsibility for the consequences of their own actions ? The right of centre in Australian politics could not get a kick in a riot. That big coat-hanger in Sydney was not built by Conservatives.

Once again you obfuscate and trail red herrings all over the place in order to justify your argument. The managing editor of News corp in Australia empathically denied that there was any political instruction from Murdoch. No editor was influenced. Please stop this nonsense and get out and live a bit. You do need to emerge from under the doona and stop generalising about topics you obviously know little about or have such an inbuilt bias that you can't see the forrest for the trees.

it wouldn't matter if those batteries were made in China, Australia or anywhere else; the result will still be the same. Once again you use an inappropriate analogy to try and justify your argument.

Re-Title this thread to "Aussie Blather". ZZZZzzzzzzz. Who cares? Anyone have any interesting comments about anything?

Not really but .
My last tax return was AU$105000 to the government coffers + 2.5 % of my gross for Medicare levies (I have a decent private cover policy also at more $)
It shows, work hard, pay dearly but you do what you do in the hope that tax will make for a better lifestyle for all, working on the jobs I do you hope that export revenue will make this country stronger. (+ I enjoy the work, what's not to like when there are crawler cranes that can lift 1350 tons) and you get to work on some of the biggest LNG projects in the world.

Australia as great as it is has many people who like to moan, make nothing into something, complain or debate what they personally will not endeavour to change (self sacrifice)
Its the way, change the TV channel or moan and debate.
A sure sign of people who need to get out more.

As posted many times, my father fought for this country in WWII (Pacific)
If I ever became non focused as far as contribution I only have to remember the fallen.
