Trailered my '15 Sport 500 miles one way to AF1 Racing to reflash my SC ECM. The Tech tried for an hour but we could not get the SC unit to respond to the tech's laptop. Never would shake hands. We tried everything. Turn on turn off disconnect reconnect. Pull and reinstall fuses. Checked OBD pins. We checked over the wiring and connector but it looked fine. Tech even said it was one of the cleanest wiring jobs he had see on a 961. Anyone ever heard of that before? 1000 mile trip down the tubs.

You may ask David Coote in Canada . He and RIchard have the bikes and the software/cables/computer . You can just send the ECU I would think. They did my ECU when I was there . And if it is a wiring error on your bike ,is it safe to think that it may flash just fine on a different bike ? You may want to PM Richard-7 .

Yes , If they have the donor bikes there .
Correct. The dealership said they needed the bike. No doner bike option. I would think that would be a non- issue with SC. How much worse could it get? I'm going to try it.

Where did you send it dealer or Norton ? Gchoppin , Try Cootes , they have both SC an Omex capability . Or how about Skeleton Cycles in Denver ? He has his bike and said that he could do it. And his bike is an SC not a OMEX I think .

I may be mistaken but I thought the ECU would be plugged in to software to update the settings....but I wasn’t present as I had posted mine!
The ECU must need to see all of the inputs that being on the bike provides. If a workstation were setup to have all of the necessary inputs , it could be done on the bench . Norton does not have a workstation either , they need the bikes too ! This much I know.

And lets not forget that going between OMEX and back to SC is a hassle too for the shop . They really need a SC and a OMEX bike side by side to make it faster and easier to do both type customer ECU's . David C. has done it so much it wouldn't surprise me if he could have it in and out in 30 minutes !

Don't forget to disconnect the battery before you remove or install the ECU !

It went to Norton not sure what they did when they received it....

Not sure if that's the case Tony. The ECU should only need a very basic harness to be reflashed. On a side note, as you know my ECU was at one point changed from SC to OMEX the factory delivered the OMEX with a short harness to go from the SC ECU plug to the OMEX plug. That might be the way to go.

Hello Iwilson , I suppose all you need then is +12v Power , Ground-return , and connection to the data input lines. But even Norton need a bike I was told by Max. Maybe they didn't bother to set up a flashing harness/workstation , I don't know. Many a dealer I bet wished they had a flashing harness/workstation with 12v battery with a groundstrap etc.. Thanks for the reply .

Something like that (would probably need an ignition switch along with power and data). I suppose most of the time the dealer would expect to have the bike or a bike to plug the ECU into so not worth the bother of building a workstation for the number of times it was used.

I'm going to give them a call. Thought about sending it back to SC but would rather deal with a Norton guy in the US. Thanks Tony A and all.
