Does anyone have experience from the extended top fork bushes that RGM is selling? Can you use them in any Roadholder fork?

I have fitted them, but as the project isn't yet finished i cannot comment on how they perform

The extended bush is to restore the full extension hydraulic bump stop to the Commando fork, a design mistake made a metal to metal clash inside the damper tube the bump stop giving the topping out clunk when you put the bike on the centre stand. Its not needed in other roadholders unless you are aware this fault is in them, when not needed it only adds stiction to the fork action.

The extended upper bushings also add support when the fork is at or near full extension. I agree with Kommando about the increased stiction, but no one will ever accuse the RoadHolders of competing with Olins...

Match your springs and fork oil to your weight and riding style (behavior) and you shouldn't get into trouble.

Thanks for the answers, my fork legs are from a "hybrid" fork, with almost 25" long stanchions so not a Commando. Guess I´ll go for the standard bushes then.

If your forks are non standard then you need to do some checks on a test assembly to ensure you have hydraulic bump stops at both ends of the travel ie the damper rod is long enough so the full extension Commando clash is absent and neither is it so long that it hits the bottom of the damper body. Also check the upper and lower bushes at full compression are not too close together, the bush clearances designed in are larger than on modern forks, without a gap there is a lack of full support for the stanchion which can then cock to one side and ruin the action.

Sorry guys, just got excited when a fellow Swede wrote in my thread;)....Matt on CNW is originally from Sweden, which I as a Norton fan think is kinda cool....Translation of my reply: "Whaow, beautiful stuff, but a bit over the top for me", Matt answered: "No problem"

...and just to be clear, the Swede that designed the extended fork bushings I offer is Hakan Kindstrom. Great guy that stops by my shop every year with a bunch of Swedes that he takes on annual bike tours through the Rockies.
