Exporting a Commando from the UK to the USA?

I was recommended this company by someone on here, I have no personal experience other than speaking to them about a potential import and they seemed quite professional to me:

Anybody in the UK close by that might be able to take a look at the bike for me?

Where did you find the advert ?

According to what I can see, Elm Villa Classics web page no longer exists…

it was listed on ebay this year and not sold, I backtracked the shop down, but its a small outfit I'm guessing and the website was abandoned
I am sure that the shop still exists .

Freight forwarding is very low margin business, they make their money with hidden fees and fines. So you get tricks like 5 days of warehousing included in the price, but this includes weekends and holidays so if your container arrives in a port in the UK just before Christmas you are guaranteed to be stung. A good freight forwarder will warn you in advance of the tricks.

BEWARE!!!

I think these are the people that ripped off a client of mine for several thousand dollars in "fees" AFTER the bike shipped.
Looking at their website prices I see what you mean - The actual cost is nothing like what they quote; less than £400 to NY!

With all due respect to your client; crating, delivery & collection, processing customs forms, paying duties, dockyard fees and adequate insurance will likely top £2k - without being ripped off.
That said, I don't know the whole story.
Most reputable agencies will provide a comprehensive quote on application - which is what Autoshippers suggest, to be fair.
Why they are using that table is beyond me; it's just flat misleading, although I daresay that's what the shipping line would charge for freighting dockside to dockside only.

True, I wasn't even talking about the inland portion of the delivery. They charged him almost double JUST for dock-to-dock, even though they quoted the original amount as "includes all fees"

...and, of course, your motorcycle is held for ransom with no recourse. SO BUY INSURANCE!!! I believe the correct insurance will ensure that the shipper doesn't miss their responsibilities, and will force proper disclosures before the bike is released to the exit point dock workers.
