Ever seen a bottle opener/keyring like this?

Its been in our family forever. Don't know where it came from.

It lived in the top drawer in the kitchen since I was a tadpole, for opening sterilized milk bottles and I've always used it as a handy keyring since my folks popped their clogs, many years ago.

Wondered if anyone had seen one like it before??

They used to be in most everyones drawer a few years ( decades ) back.

I have one somewhere, probably underneath the kives and forks tray out of sight as my wife thinks it is just rusty old tat !

Often they had a different names on them.

Had this one a while...

These days, most crown seals can be removed by twisting. In the old days, a bottle epener was always needed, It is like the can opener which made a triangular hole in a can - these days cans are all ring-pull.
One of my cousins lost the sight in one eye, when he tried to remove a crown seal with a screw-driver.

This is mine was found in the diggings when I was leveling the ground for my new shed/workshop after the Bobcat did it's work that was 32 years ago, it was all rusty and once cleaned up it has Helioon on one side and For Health on the otherside, don't know how long it's been in the ground as the house was built in 1955, I have been using it as my key ring for the 32 years since I found it and has opened up a many of bottles, before that I had another one that my grandmother gave me but it broke from wear and tear and opening too many bottles in my younger days lol, these bottle openers were very popular back in the 30/40s maybe even longer.

Not an opener but back in the day when I rode a clapped out Royal Enfield it got almost as much use as an opener. Had to replace e the first one because using it as a screwdriver makes plug gapping difficult.

Not so good for a key ring but you do need something on the tool wall for emergencies.

Hmm, it seem to be a life skill, but basically anyone in Denmark can open a crown cap with a knife (or spoon, or spanner or anything really). You can also use another bottle with a crown cap, but thet takes a bit of skill to avoid ending up with two leaky beer bottles!
Some used to do it with their teeth, much to the horror of my dentist wife :)

MikeG, I see you also have a p38 on your key ring. Another handy device, for opening cans.
šŸ‘ Used it plenty of times back in the day. Just can't seem to take it off the keyring. I used to have a small tab bracket from a Triumph that I made into a chopper years ago on the ring as well. Almost had more junk than keys on there.
