Hello All
I read on an earlier post from 2015 that the factory was in the process of getting a kit together to deal with the oil in air box issue. Has anyone heard the status of the kit?
Thanks

There is a factory fix for bikes with problems. Not all bikes have this problem. Some have very little oil and some have an insanely, unacceptable amount, so as far as I know it will not be something that comes on the bikes as standard. Read my manual on OIL IN THE AIRBOX. Make sure you don't ride with the plug out, and also make sure you drain it every once in a while.

Ok. Thanks. Are the kits readily available?
I wonder what the factory deems as an acceptable amount ? Mine is approx a couple of tablespoons in a few hundred miles. It doesn't do it all the time. I was very conscious of the breakin procedure and the bike has around 1000 miles on it.
Any ideas what is included in the kit and what the cost of the parts?
Thanks

I believe it would be covered under warranty if it's really bad. You're bike doesn't seem as bad as some have claimed. Mine is a little less than that. After each ride I collect in a jar to monitor it and top up as needed (not with the used oil of course!). On the bright side, you're always getting fresh oil added throughout the year.

I hope Norton release this kit soon. Draining the air box is not good when out on a trip.

My oil filter still looks new but I leave the hose unplugged. The bikes at the shop now and I requested the upgrade. Hopefully I'll get it.

Your Air filter looks new , got it. Let us know if you get any word back about the kit being available now. I will speak to MCC as well. I thought that Simon was going to let us know when this kit would be available ? He has not reported this yet has he ? Thanks , Tony

I was at the Bristol Classic Motorcycle show in Somerset at the weekend. A dealership called Moto Corsa were there displaying new Nortons. It transpired that they have taken on the Norton Franchise in the South West of England. This is a lot closer for many owners in the South West than hacking back to Castle Donnington or Bodmin in Cornwall.

The mechanic and the service manager told me that Norton had issued a recall because of this oil in the airbox issue, and that bikes were being fixed with the new system under warranty. I have doubts about the product recall as I would have thought that Norton would have contacted their customers directly. I told them that my bike is a few months out of warranty but that the issue had been there all along. They were going to contact Karen at Norton and ask whether my bike could be remedied under warranty.
Watch this space.

I was at the NEC Bike show in Birmingham back in December and spoke to a Norton guy on their stand re: oil in air box and the oil vent kit. Explained I had a 12' plate Sport and that I'd complained about oil in the air box from new, we talked a while and he took my details and said someone from the service dept would call me about fitting a vent kit "under warranty". No call from them as yet!
My bike will be due a service in June I was hoping to tie in a Donington service and warranty vent kit around that time.
