Just had my 961 1st service and engine management light still on, they replaced the temp sensor on the service
Have any other guys had same issues and is it safe to ride
I have decats fitted

ECU could be relearning the new sensor. That happened to me. Don't go far on my advice, but I'd run it. Keep resetting the ignition key. Hopefully the more advanced people around here will chime in quickly.

There’s no learning if it’s a temp sensor replacement. I’d be checking to make sure all leads are properly connected. I’d be reluctant to ride it without advise, after all it could be low oil pressure or something else similarly serious.

Doesn't the EML have to be reset by the factory after completing service?
Was the light out when you got the bike back after service?

Hello Phil , If you have just been to the Norton Factory or Dealer and your EML is still on , I would bring it right back ! If it is a long way away and you will not be going back soon you can try to reset it by disconnecting the battery for several minutes and reconnect and try it again. What year is your bike ?

Phil, I just had my annual service and they replaced my temp sensor but no eml on mine so I don't think it is related but check the connector anyway.

Phil,
I had the EML light come on after collecting from Donnington - rang them and the advice was that it would be ok and not to worry. After another 70 miles the ECU cut the engine -that is what it is designed to do to protect it from going bang!
If the EML is permanently illuminated then get it recovered back to where you had it serviced

Sept 2017 Sport - had EML light on/off up to 1st service - short silencers (but retained cats) went on with a remap - EML light on/off again - then had decats fitted plus another remap - EML light was then constantly on - bike ran OK - there were some faulty lambda sensors fitted originally & my dealer replaced these - I haven't seen the EML light on since (>2.5k miles) - Alan

Curious. Are you getting an ILL # or does it say WARN? I got the ILL8 a d a WARN but has since cleared after recharging the battery.

ILL # means illumination and the number 0-9 (or 10?) stands for the brightness of the speedo lights. I think you can change by holding button whilst Voltage is shown.
This is definitely no warning message...

Thanks Raphi. I feel better about that. That was the only message could get while it was stuck on one screen. It did go to WARN for about 3 seconds. Pretty sure it was weak battery. All is fine now after a good ride and a charge. I keep it on a charger year round but forgot just for 5 days.

If you haven’t already done so you may like to connect a trickle charger when not in use and even then do not be surprised if you have to replace the battery every year or two....

Light went off when I started it at factory
When I rode it a week later , light stayed on
It went off for a mile or so today
But back on !

Intermittent on/off.
Sounds like stray voltage issue like the low fuel light flashing some folks experienced.

That's odd , my low fuel light was flashing , as they must of drained tank when they removed it for the service etc

Just keep an eye on the light to see if it flashes often.
If it's constantly flashing, you may need the resistor wire fix.

I'm sure those owners who have installed the wire will chime in here.
