Ebay Cafe Saddle for Interstate / Opinions Wanted

No info on the seat but every time I look at the factory parts book I wonder if anybody will ever put on offer the solo seat used on the Plodmobile.

Matt at CNW has said that there is a difference in length of the Interstate tanks over the years, so I would be a bit wary if these Vietnamese sits may or may not work with the tank you have. They do look nice, but good fitment would be my concern.

I bought a MK11 Interstate one from Burtons Bike Bits and it fits great. I have removed the locking seat from my MK111 and reverted to the earlier seat knob set up. The quality is pretty good as well. Those ebay seats look a bit small and trendy for my taste but that's just a personal opinion, it's your bike and money. https://s5.postimg.org/n1lxfniqf/2017-09-06_150913.jpg

I bought a seat from Vietnam that looked like a Corbin in the photos, when it turned up it is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, doesn't fit straight on the bike and is basically useless for anything. I don't recall the vendor's name so can't comment on this particular chap you have asked about.

I also brought a Interstate one from Burtons Bike Bits and fitted it to my Wideline Featherbed, I had to reposition the seat lugs but wasn't that hard, its a very comfortable seat and has been on the bike for over 7 years now, I am very happy with it.

Hi,

I bought a seat from Texavina for my 850 Roadster last year and I am happy with the seat. It is handmade and good quality. I had to rework the brackets, because the gap was a bit too small. The guy told me that he live in USA and his family does produce the seat in Vietnam. They ship worldwide and the delivery time is about 6 weeks. I took the risk because it was not expensive and I took into account to rework it.

I ordered at their website:

How is that Texavina Roadster seat for long haul comfort?
Have you been able to do an hour or two on it without a break?

The foam is firm, but softer than the Corbin seat. One or two hours should be no problem. But I didn't test it on trips longer than two hours yet. The foam has to be firmer because the pad is smaller than the factory seat. I guess it's about 3 cm lower.

Take care Mark
I recall Mat Rambow (CNW) advising that the reason Corbin don't do off-the-shelf seats for Interstates is that the fuel tank length can vary so they only offer custom fit
Cheers

The reason why I went for the Texavina seat is that it is cheap enough to take the risk of rework. The cover is good quality and the plate is solid steel. This alone makes it worth the money. The cover is fixed to the plate with hooks like the factory seat. So it can easily be opened.
The Corbin seat can't be reworked easily by yourself. The cover is fixed with rivets and completely glued to the foam. It may be cheaper in total to give the Texavina seat to a saddlemaker for rework.
