This year the big Australian early season Classic meeting seems to have switched from Phillip Island to Eastern Creek. For a number of years UK's Roger Winfield has brought a team of riders over for the Phillip Island event, but is giving the event this year a miss, and instead will have his team at Eastern Creek for the March meeting.
All being well, Jeremy McWilliams will head his team, with able support from multiple TT winners John McGuiness and Michael Rutter, and fourth team member Glen English.
A surprise machine which is accompanying the Winfield contingent is the Enfield Bullet that Steve Linsdell is bringing for Chris Swallow to ride, which together with the very fast Norton ES2 that Peter Lodge will bring over from New Zealand, should provide considerable interest in their class.
Last year this ES2, ridden by Daniel Mettam got some fine results against machines half as big again in engine capacity, and it is to be hoped that the Geoff Clatworthy ES2 will also be joining him to run at the front.
It looks very much like Phillip island's loss will be Eastern Creek's gain !
