Dzus Fastener on 1971 Roadster

The end on the Dzus fastener I purchased to instal on my 1971 Roadster does not engage with the wire spring on the side cover. The 'hook' portion only extends by 7/32" from the body of the fastener unit. It doesn't protrude far enough to engage the wire. Can some kind member measure how far the extension is on their bike please? I think I will have to purchase another one. Am I missing something here?

Mine, [ totally original ] sticks out from the sleeve 10.25 mm. Fits into Fibreglass side cover.

The Dzus fastener and side cover on my '71 Roadster are original. The pin extends 13/32" from top of the collar to the tip of the pin. Also, on mine it looks like the wire on the side cover mount could be flattened down closer to the hole - that might help the pin capture the wire.

Thanks Dereck and Sam, that confirms the pin an mine is too short. Looks like I will need to get another Dzus assembly.
