Dusting Sidecars

He got some recent interest on the Matchless OC....
And he replied with (roughly) where he lives to one enquiry...

He didn't list a price for anything, I notice.

That Ajay outfit would be quite highly prized, in my neck of the woods.
Nice bit'o'kit.

I am pleased to say that we've connected and looks like the sale is going to happen! i will now have 6 bikes in my small garage. Hopefully my wife won't leave me.

Very purty....

Something to chew on is that the sidecar is on the wrong side for US roads.
I had a doublethink about the opposite scenario, and decided against it.
Poking the sidecar out into the oncoming traffic to see if its safe to overtake is not without its dangers. !!

Jist out of curiousity, what sort of $$ are involved.
Old Ajay/Matchy ironhead rigids are not renowned for their brute hp, (although willing as solo mounts)
and not usually priced accordingly either. Might be a little rarer in the US though.

I would offer that the CROWN OF THE ROAD (which is greater on tiny, rural roads, exactly where this thing will be at home) would be the best reason to not have it on your left... flying the chair more likely. YMMV, JMWO

Assuming that the bikes get here (they are being picked up today) -and it runs, this '49 with outfit will be mainly limited to riding through my neighborhood with my toddler in the hack. Although I may take it to events and use the hack as a beer transportation device. I have other bikes for serious riding NORTONs. :)

Well the shipping company's truck broke down yesterday on the way to pick up the bikes.... So more waiting. Wonderful.

Well, the shipper that I hired had a blown fuel line which stranded him 100 miles from the pickup. He had a new fuel line installed and it blew 10 minutes later. The stupid shipper sent me a text message saying that he was going to rent a car and go home. I never heard from the jackass ever again. Do not ever use CT Lee Transportation.

So, last weekend I found another shipper (Brother's Steel Transportation out of Illinois) who was going to be in the area where my AJS's are. He got about 100 miles from the pickup when someone t-boned his trailer and totaled it. (Thankfully he was not hurt and that he had not picked my bikes up yet).

SO, the same shipper has picked up his second trailer and is going to be delivering my bikes on Thursday. I can't believe what a pain in the ass this has been. Hopefully it is all worth it in the end. I will let you know.

Aside from the fact that Brother's Steel had an unfortunate accident (wasn't his fault). He has been very good to work with. Great communication. My question is, do you tip a shipper? He really has taken care of me despite everything.

Quote "My question is, do you tip a shipper? He really has taken care of me despite everything." unquote.
answer is you don't except give a good Feedback on the web.

I swear, you can't make this shit up. My shipper cancelled on my the day before pickup due to a "Medical Condition". WTF!?!? I now have no one to pickup/deliver my bikes. i called Keyboard shipping and they want $1500 plus to deliver and they need 3 to 4 weeks.

How far away are they?
I'd be thinking about going and picking them up myself might.

Veeerrrryyy nice, that 1949 especially.
Glad it all worked out good.
Looks like you have a budding young sidecar pilot there already.....
