Hi folks !

New guy here. The name is Lars, and I'm in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I'm in the process of buying a Norton Commando and during the search
this Dunstall 'body'- kit fell into my lap ( mmmm ... not really ).
Though I have had, and still have, a handful of old bikes , I've never owned a Norton so
I don't know much about them ... and even less about the Dunstall -thing.

Would you kindly help me figuring out if this is the real thing or a replica
and also put some estimate of value on it. I might not want to use it for
my soon-to-have Commando and instead want to sell it
to help finance the Norton ( ... and all the other old contraptions I have )

WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGE
I apologize for the disturbing images of Norton-parts
sitting on a Laverda-frame . They're just there to show of the parts

Unfortunately I can't read the date as it has some black spray-paint semi-covering it

Thank you !

Octane, I don't think this is genuine Dunstall equipment, the fairing certainly is not, I think this is later aftermarket stuff. If you like the look then put it on the bike, but do a Google search for Dunstall Comando to see what the typcal bikes looked like. Dunstall manufacturing quality was often poor. I myself am building a Dunstall replica, there are differences between earler and later Dunstall Norton tanks, seats and fairings with the later models having a slightly more angular look.

Dunstall fairing would have a little shelf under the windscreen with "dunsTall" imprinted in it (note, just the "T" is capitalized)

I don't think that's Dunstall stuff, the tails were very squared-off.

I DO think it is "period" stuff, probably from Reg Curley (tank has Curley lines), or maybe Gus Kuhn.

Agree that is not likely to be Dunstall stuff...
Why ?
fiberglass is cloth on tail cover, NEVER seen cloth on unmodified originals
Dunstall fairings have the windscreen mounted to the inside of the fairing (yes crappy design)
The front fender has a flatish center profile and "positive" dunstall logo on the rear end.
Not previously seen tail section of that design, Would probably have a "dunstall" (negative or "imprint") text at the bottom of the license plate area.

Here is some pictures of real Dunstall stuff from my bike I am building to sell.

FYI it was Reg Curley who made the fibre-glass parte for Dunstall-he is still in business :!:
The seat might be with its squared off section for a f/bed.

Yes, but didn't he also sell kits under his own company name? That has been my understanding, as I have seen and heard of similar (to Dunstall), but different kits made by him.

I believe it is telling to look at the styling breaks between the front section of the gas tank and the back section, on the sides. Different brands, different styling breaks.
