I'll make this new thread to make it easy to track the updates. No one was begging me for it but I know you were thinking it.
My dad was here for a couple months help out as we did some house remodeling. He ordered a bunch of parts for the bike, I've slowly been installing them.
Just like the Norton the stock front brake on the Ducati is wooden and in-effective. While we could have just gone with a smaller master cylinder, why not go full out and add a second front disc to go along with it?
The tires had plenty of tread but they were weather checked. So off came the wheels to get new tires. We opted for the Bridgestone BT-45s. (I also got a new rear tire for the Cagiva). With the Conti-replicas you have to remove at least one of the mufflers to get the axle out. As a side note Ducatis have really nice cush drives, too bad Norton couldn't have copied it.
New caliper and stainless lines.
I've hit a standstill with the wiring. I've got the turn signals working, but only because I ran all new wiring for them. The headlight is still not working. I suspect a bad relay or just crappy wiring. I have some new micro relays on the way. I am still planning on rewiring at some point. Looking at the stock wiring you can understand why.
The handlebar switches are built into the stock levers so when the master cylinder and clutch went we got a new handlebar switch with turn/kill/horn/lights. We'll see if I can get it to work.
Rear wheel back on.
I also have carb rebuild kits (never again will I complain about the cost of Amal repair kits!), bleeding the brakes and sorting the wiring. We'll see if I can get a ride in before the end of the season.
